So much has been going on here the past couple of weeks. We’re pushing hard to get the house liveable by October.
My mind has mostly been fixed on getting our property line/tax situation straightened out with the Town Planning Board. To sum up what’s going on there…TOWN BUREAUCRACY IS SUCKING THE LIFE OUT OF ME. I can’t even express my frustration with what’s going on so I’ll just move on from that subject until there is happy news to report there. I’ve also been consumed with filing a Notice of Intent with the Conservation Commission to work on our driveway and have gas run to the house. When all was said and done, I submitted about 300 pages of paperwork to nine different state and local agencies who get to have a say about where we put our driveway. NINE! This is a small-government libertarian’s nightmare. The hearing is next week so hopefully that goes smoothly.
But now to the fun stuff! New plumbing has been run, the electric service has been upgraded to 200 amp and the exterior restoration is complete (minus windows which we’ll be doing later).

The outside of the house looks so pretty I just want to hug it! J has been working like a beast on the inside. Check it out.

He’s awesome. He’s been busy framing, prepping the subfloor for our new floors and doing a whole bunch of other stuff that I am completely unskilled, and frankly uninterested, to do. J gets a little frustrated with me because I’m already 10 steps ahead of him and picking out paint colors and counter tops.
So I’ve kept myself busy working on the barn. I spent a weekend getting it ready for our very first farm animals, goats (aka the landscape crew)!

One of the things on our to-do list was sand the interior walls and ceilings. I did about 3/4 of one room with a 80-grit brush on a rotary grinder and had to be just about peeled off the floor at the end of it. There was no way we were going to be able to do every surface in the house that way. So we had a gentleman come corn cob blast the whole interior this past week. The difference is unbelievable!

I’ll post some pictures after it’s all cleaned up this weekend. Even with the stress and hard work, we are so excited to make this dream come true!

Great job on the blog!
